Niger: Safety Council strongly condemns ‘efforts to unconstitutionally change’ Authorities

The members of the Safety Council strongly condemned the efforts to unconstitutionally change the respectable authorities of the Republic of Niger on 26 July 2023. 

Earlier this week, the demand to launch the President of Niger was voiced by the UN Secretary-Basic António Guterres. Late on Wednesday, a gaggle of Nigerien army officers made a tv announcement declaring a coup, after members of the president’s personal guard detained him inside his places of work within the capital metropolis of Niamey.
